A large update for Vegas - a Sega 32X emulator for Windows. A new Megadrive emulator for my Page. This is a good Windows 9X based emulator, with around 92%+ compatbility (so the docs claim) - it reminds me of DGen. Comes with all the usual features: A GUI, Joystick Support, PSG sound, ZIP ROM support, & good compatability - worthwhile. The only problem I seem to have is with the Windowed mode not displaying correctly (I get dual screens with a green corruption, no big deal though - I prefer full screen more). A new release of DBoy with no English translation available, all I can see from the docs is: PSG, IF-SEGA & DMA. Dunno what this means.

(Still need some improvement) - Change the name of Config definition file from "DBOY.CFG" to "DBOY.DEF". You can rename the old "DBOY.CFG" or use it as a sample.

The best Snes emulator gets an update, ZSKnight and team has done miracles to make such a great emulator. Handy is the only Lynx emulator that runs commerical roms, and it runs them extremly well under Windows. With this new release we have all new full screen & windowed DirectX rendering support & Some minor speed improvements. Magic Engine One of the oldest emulator on my page, though it started in DOS form its now running well under Windows. The biggest downside is that its not freeware and comes with a fair £10 pricetag. - fixed the "random reset" bug in CD games. - improved CD-ROM support. - fixed the keyboard bug that happened on very fast PC. - re-implemented support for the old backup RAM format used in the DOS Magic Engine - fixed another little bug in the backup RAM support. - added a new option for the TV mode: 'wide' - improved CD audio volume control (this still doesn't work on SB Live cards, though). - added a new option in the PCE.INI file : 'audio_input_line' - fixed the continuous sound bug that happened sometimes when accesing the CD-ROM - added a log feature to help debugging. I seemed to have missed release 2.05 of BrMSX - but here is 2.06 with alot of MSX2 features added/fixed. This is a quaility MSX/MSX2 emulator for DOS. The GUI can be a bit confusing at times, but overall a great emulator.
A small bugfix release of PC Atari, this release fixes bugs in the debugger, VESA routines, and graphics mode text entering.
The MAME v0.37 beta wagon continues... this release adds support for games like Pipe Dreams and a few from the last releases of Raine (Uo Poko, Esprade).
The best Atari 2600 emulator? I don't have enough 2600 experience to make a call but looking at this ones specs and low system requirements, it looks like a winner to me, very good work. This update fixes a bud with the VESA routines, a graphics-mode bug and changes to the GNU GPL licence.
I thought Lynx emulation was forgotten, but today we get a new release of Handy - the first in over a year. This release is great with its updates, it had a nice looking border, Full Screem support, speedups and higher compatability. The only thing the author Keith Wilkinson's didn't get to finish was the networking code. Overall a fantastic emulator. Another release of DBoy I hear you say, I'm unsure why this is, after all DBoy v0.58 Final was released. Well I'm unsure why, but here it is: - Fixed the cpu speed getting faster when you reset. - Comes with super easy-going launcher "dbpipe". - Added -rtsload option. The only Acorn emulator available gets a good update, the author says to expect another release soon (v0.85 or v0.9) - Dual MEMC emulation to allow 8MB of ram. - Direct Floppy Access to A: for ADFS D/E and DOS 720k disks for both reading and writing. - Fast floppy access option. - Approx 20% speed increase. - Some other bug fixes...
This ever popular Nintendo64 emulator gets another update, though this time only the binaries are updated so you will need to have v0.2 unzipped already. This version adds support for the following games: - Chameleon Twist (with sound) - Pawafuru Puroyakyu 4 (with sound) - Waverace 64 US (with sound) - Snowboard Kids (with sound) - Rush 2 (with sound) - Doom 64 (severe graphics glitches) - Milo's Astro Lanes (partialy) - Wheel of fortune (partially) - Possibly others Another update (the second in a few days) of a great Apple Mac emulator for Windows NT with some 95/95 support. - Reorganized code to reduce the performance hit introduced by the new 60Hz code. - Scrap manager A-line traps hooked. - The checked status of the new system menu commands was not updated correctly. - The crash recovery code was not enabled. - A mechanism to shut down properly the one-second interrupt thread.
VICE has been updated! VICE is an 8-bit commodore emulator (Commodore Vic20, C64, C128, CBM/2 & PET) which is available for multiple operating systems, here I have them for good DOS and Windows. General changes: - Fixed slowdown bug with flickering drive led. C64 changes: - Fixed crash caused by VIC-II memory corruption. - Expert cartridge is emulated now. - Some NTSC fixes. border looks a bit small, most NTSC programs work. - Fixed CIA TOD initialization. Drive changes: - Fixed IEC initialization bug that broke true drive emulation. - D71 BAM calculation has been fixed. A quick bugfix release of Winclear - I notcied that the -echoon feature does not work with the complier, so the option has been removed.
Well, I have passed the hundred thousand visitor mark on emulationworld. It has nearly been a year since I moved to emulationworld. I thank them for the kind hosting. Here is to another sucessful year! Another beta version of CCS64 for DOS, this version fixes a nasty bug in sprite collision detection. It caused problems in games like Castle of Dr. Creep and others.
Raine is finished, no doubt about that. This is a bug fix version after Raine v0.28 Final as there were some major soundcard problems that needed addressed. This is by no means an offical release by Antiriad but by Kayamon. So if you have any problems, go back to the v0.28f version.
Finally, a Sega 32X emulator.. And just what should have been expected, its slow - but for a 2nd release it does have decent comptability and good Megadrive emulation (though not as fast as DGen). A promising start. Corn was initially a Mario64 emulator only. Though it only ran one game, it was really fast and well emulated. Now Corn has a better compatablity rating and still retains the speed. It can only play a handful of games at the moment (Mario64, StarFox64, Crusin USA) but its very fast and well done, an emulator to watch.

The MAME v0.37 releases have started, here is Beta 1 - it has the usual amount of updated games and fixes, nothing much I have tried.
DBoy is the best Gameboy emulator around, it appeared back in December 1998 and some say it continued the old VGB-DOS source code (which ran full speed on a DX2/66). BouKiCHi has worked very hard over the last 18 months and gave up complete Gameboy Colour emulation. But he has decided to move on to a PC Engine emulator and therefore discontinued DBoy. Its been a great journey and we are left with a work of art. I thank you BouKiCHi. A Windows based Gameboy emulator based on the Dboy source code. It now also features decent Nes support. So far the compatablity looks good as it runs all the roms I though at it with ease.
Basilisk, the Mac emulator for WindowsNT that works on Win98 (but does not have 100% support). This release fixes a memory bank problem in Win9x version. It caused most of the 512 KB ROMs not working properly. A new release of Magic Engine, this is a beta release and for that reason I have left v0.96 online for anyone who wants it. The whatsnew: - Improved CD-ROM support - Fixed a CD related loading/saving bug - Enhanced Magic System compatibility. - Fixed a bug in the sound noise emulation. - Aadded more save state files when using a System Card - Better backup RAM management - Added support for gzipped ROMs (.gz) - ZIP support coming soon. - Better sound support for PCI sound cards - Fixed a bug in the sound options - Added a new option in the PCE.INI file - Fixed a bug when saving the player configuration file: PCE.CFG - Re-implemented support for the old GAMES.DAT archive format

Good old RockNES is back to keep its newly crowned position as the Number#1 Nes emulator. This version has Long Filename support due to it being compiled with the newest DJGPP, support for mapper #19 and various bug fixes. Another release for this superb DOS based Gameboy emulator, this update fixes the -keys option, a problem with the MBC3&HuC3 clock, CPU speed change and adds a show message. An amazing little emulator for an amazing little system.
Another release of this great Gameboy emulator for DOS. The usual applies to this emulator in that it comes with Japanese docs and therefore I don't have a clue what is new.
A new addition to my page, NoCash MSX - a DOS based MSX1/2 emulator from the NoCash camp.. unable to tell you how good it is... worth a look! Another smaller release of this great N64 emulator, this adds those ini updates that have been flooding the net and various other fixes.
Nine Months since v0.35 Final, we get MAME v0.36 Final release. This is the end result of all those v0.36 Beta's that we have all been using for the last 9 months. And it has been some ride, 275 new games added, a huge amount of fixes and additons. MAME continues to grow.
Another release of the best NES emulator around, this a DOS based with a decent GUI: This release fixes various mapper related problems and savestate probs. There have been changes to the soundcore & GUI.. A good update. A sneaked out release of this great SMS/GG/Coleco emulator for Windows. This release adds alot (I have missed out the whatsnew), but looking at the compatability, I'm amazed: - SG-1000 perfect compatibility rate is now of 100% - Master System perfect compatibility rate is now of 98.90% - Game Gear perfect compatibility rate is now 94%.
Now offically Windows 2000 complient and lots of bugfixes in the first update of the year 2000. This is a good Mac emulator for Windows, its designed for Windows NT/2000 but does mostly work under 9x - expect minor problems to occur though.
Release Canidate 2 appears, quite a few new games added (including a few Raine ones). A weird change for this release is "- Won the first grand prix of the season. [Micheal Schumacher]".
The Fellow Project, "TFP is an optimized Version of the Fellow Amiga Emulator by Petter Schau." This seems to continue on where the last release: Fellow v0.35 left off. According to the docs, this has a Built in Gamecheater with Searchengine, Speed / Compiler Optimizations, 586 Code *ready* & Executable Size Reduction using PMODE/W & UPx.
A new release of this speedy Nintendo64 emulator for Windows, its main emulation is focused on Mario64. But this new release plays a few more games including StarFox64. It now also has Sound & Joystick support along with much needed Voodoo card support. Nice! Another beta of this amazing C64 emulator for DOS (Windows port availale from homepage), this version now shows the cartridge names in the menu, adds support for the Expert Cartridge & the REU Ram Expansion memory contents can now be loaded/saved disk. Is this the best NES emulator around? Has it overtaken Nesticle, I personally think it could well be. It is a very good NES emulator that has been around for quite some time and gathering pace. It now has GUI and very high compatablity along with a good set of nice features.
Both the Windows & DOS ports of this emulator have been updated and uploaded. VICE is a Commodore Vic20, C64, C128, CBM/2 & PET emulator. Its rather good and emulates alot of the features of these machines, well worth the download (even though its quite large).
A new PlayStation Music/Video player for Windows, this one can extract the videos from the newest titles including Gran Turismo 2 and Final Fantasy 8. A nice utility and well worth a look if you have access to PlayStation Games.
Finally - the promised new release of Nemu64 - the 2nd best N64 emulator around, this emulator runs various N64 games well. It seems to support Direct3D for your Primary video card and works quite well here, though not as fast as UltraHLE can reach on a Voodoo. One to watch.
MAME moves into Release Canidate's finally. This version removes support for Pong and the Gambling Games that were introduced during the betas. Nicola has decided to keep MAME as a Video Game emulator (therefore no simulations, e.g. Pong.. and those Gambling machines were not Video Games). Here are the new games supported for this release: - Teki Paki - Knuckle Bash - Pipi & Bibis - Snow Bros. 2 - Takeda Shingen - Ultraman - Fire Shark - Mole Attack - Quester - Face Off - Dream Shopper - Labyrinth Runner With this release, there is now a Windows version of NoCash Gameboy. My little Windows 9X cleanup utility finally advances to a new level thanks to the great Gary Cannon who sent me the brillaint Turbobat. Now Winclear is an executable com file.. no more open source batchfiles...
A new release of this great MSX emulator for DOS. This version has a few fixes and additions, its the first update since August 1999 so we worth the update. Good to see its still in production.
Superb, this might now be the best NES emulator for DOS, I'm not experienced enough in NES emulation to say, but it will be very close to Nesticle (and better in a few ways).. This release adds alot of new features inc a Major sound rewrite/fix, support for Mappers #40 & #90... plus alot of fixes, looks like a quality release. A new release of this great Atari 800 emulator for DOS, I won't bother quoting whats new as its all very technical and means nothing to most of us, but if Atari800 emulation is your forte, then pop over to the Atari800 page and download this now.
Superb, the first release of ZSnes for 2000, this is my (and most peoples) favorite Snes emulator and it continues to improve by the day. This release fixes the SA-1 slowdowns and problems with the pitch of the sound. Do you read Japanese, I sure don't, so the whatsnew is bizzare to me... This utility takes the old mgd2 format dumps and converts them into the new and impoved mvs format. This version adds support for Mutation Nation, so download if you have it in mgd2 format (filenames like; N054001a.038).
Another release of the UltraHLE INI addon, this release adds working comments for `Zool Majou Tsukai Densetsu', a fix for `Dual Heroes' and Jandaman added comments to another 40 games. Now that v1.5.0 release of UltraHLE must be comming up soon, I want to see my GeForce fly!
Wow - MAME now supports 2000 games, thats really amazing and a round of applause to the MAME team for all their hardwork! More of a clean up release than anything else, will this be the last release before UltraHLE v1.5.0 appears? - Fixed cheat codes for several games and removed duplicate ones - Added comments to a few new games - Fixed credits and comments
Another day, another DGen release, as I have already talked about this Megadrive emulator on this page, I'll just leave you with the whatsnew: - Switched to Richard Mitton's excellent RAZE Z80 emulator, which fixes the out of time music on some games. - Sonic1/2/3, Aladdin are all fine now. - DAC sound plays at the right pitch now - No shadows yet (e.g. Sonic2 bonus game)
Another release of this fantastic Megadrive emulator for Windows, here's a selection of highlights from this version: - Fullscreen mode now works with high resolution graphics cards - Triple buffering in fullscreen modes - Fixed a DMA bug (fixes EA intro a bit) - Thinner mode now scales to the whole screen if Any Size is enabled.
Another beta of CCS64 v2.0, this is a great C64 emulator, one of my favourites.. available in DOS (local mirror) and Windows formats... - Strange filenames like pi, should now be correctly loaded. - The pause mode with interlaced mode should now work better. - New cartridge type 12 (Rex Cartridge).
Its happened, the Raine has stopped... Antiriad waves good by to his wonderful Arcade emulator that has amazed me from the initial beta release. Antiriad says he no longer has the time to work on the emulator and wishes everyone good luck in the future. Here's the last added games: - Chuka Taisen - Continental Circus - Continental Circus alt - Dead Connection - Metal Black - Rambo 3 (release 2) - Soldam - V-Five - Hat Trick Hero - Camel Try (alternate) - Rainbow Islands (alt) - Omega Fighter - Atomic Robokid Japanese - Darius Gaiden Extra Wow, Zoop has been working overtime on this emulator to get the compatablity levels extremly high, just look at the figures: - Game Gear perfect compatibility rate is 94.55% - Master System perfect compatibility rate is now of 97.78% - Sega Game 1000 perfect compatibility rate is 97.40%
Since the closure of my Amiga Archive, I have had quite a few broken links appearing on this page, I'm sorry about this (Blame the twits at UKOnline who have make my account readonly...). I hope I have fixed all the links!
Another beta so soon, yes the MAME team have been working overtime and it shows, this release adds support for Great 1000 Miles Rally, Shanghai & Gee Bee. I'm off to play the Rally game! This is the same as v1.19 but the zipfile ain't corrupt... and the corruption wasn't my fault (thank god), it was released that way!
A new release (again) of this nice Megadrive emulator for Windows, now Dave has got Sonic1 working again thanks to the H-Interrupt fix! - Fixed SRAM problems (e.g. Phantasy Star 4) - H-Interrupt fix (from 1.18) seems to have fixed a lot of games This great Vectrex emulator for DOS gets updated, the large download (3MB) is split into two parts.. if Vectrex is your thing, here's the new stuff: - Varous fixes to Beta 8 - GUI sorts new games by author - Now plays the Spectrum Coinop Stress Test ROM
Redump is updated for the next release of MAME (beta 15), with the redumping of crsword and the usual support for the other MVS redumps this is essential for all NeoGeo collectors. I have finally got around to adding a NeoGeo Pocket page, since there are now two emulators out there I thought it was worthwhile... see below for the newest emulator: (and goto the page for the original emulator). The 2nd NeoGeo Pocket emulator, a nice little freeware one that has potential.. pitty the author needs to grow up - this is one of the most pathetic named emulators I have ever seen, I seriously thought about posting a hacked version.. but I haven't done that... its upto you.. A new release of this great Megadrive emulator for Windows, now with .GYM logging and new DirectInput code.. this is the best Megadrive emulator with alot of support (esp. ZipRom support). Another minor update for this C64 emulator from Fairlight. I'm unable to report on whats new as I don't know myself, but I'm sure its worthwhile!
Ah well, due to public presure I have changed back to the old style bar.. it still looks good though I plan to give it a clean up soon. The selector is still there and working, so the choice is yours. The first release of MAME for the year 2000, looks like a smaller release than we are used to - but none the less essential. I guess we will be seeing the release canidates very soon... then onto the first Mame final of this year! A good Nes emulator, this is a nice updated Nes emulator that has been around for quite some time and gathering pace. It now has a basic but functional GUI, it has good compatablity and alot of nice features.
There have been various Beta versions, but this should be the final demo version of the best PC Engine emulator around, its as close to perfection as we probally will ever see.. amazing stuff. Its shareware and costs £10 for the registration (enables sound).. worthwhile if you like your PC Engine. Well this is a nice surprise, its been around 14th months since the last update of this emulator, one of the first to be featured on my pages. Its the only Spectrum emulator I recommend and its as good as ever. - Super-clean X-mode by using triple buffering! - Faster X-mode by reducing the amount of video ram accesses. - Sound always regains synchronisation automatically. - Added TR-DOS speedup option in the INI file. (UNMODIFIED TRDOS ROMS ONLY). - SB16 syntax option. - Soundcard IRQs 8-15 supported (under certain circumstances). - POK files supported. - Multiface 3 supported (needs MF3.ROM). Finally, after pre-ordering one of these cards back on the 18th October 1999, I was told to wait 2-3 weeks for it. After repeated slippage I finally gave up and got one from a local Glasgow shop for £160, (only £6 more than I was going to pay from Virtual Worlds). So far I havn't been able to put it through its paces as I went through AGP hell getting it work work (upgraded to AGP 1.60 then found after 2 hours of BIOS settings that it was my USB ports that were conflicting). I will be getting my OpenGL setup this weekend and then the gaming will begin. A new version of Comeback 64, as there are no docs I'm going by what I read on Retrogames: enhanced statusline, more I/O kernal traps, EmuID fix and tape emulation by disk redirection. This great NeoGeo utility by SMF turns your old MG2 dumps into the new and better MVS format, this version adds support for Superspy, essential! The Impact has been updated a few times this week with a series of Renderer's that can drastically improve emulation.
This is a nice Snes emulator for DOS, it was first started by brining together NLKSnes & ESnes (which were both fast) and now we have a decent emulator though not quite as good as ZSnes. For this release the authors have done alot of work, including: - The sound mute should be correct now during the pause andgoing to the GUI. - Added support to save/restore videos during the game. - Super FX support has been added. - GUI Language can be selected from the GUI andthe config file (english and spanish). - A new icon is included. - Some bugs has been fixed in the GUI. - Added support to savegames done with zsnes. - Bug fixes here and there. This nice emulator gets another update for the DOS port.. The docs are enclosed into the emulator, but apart from that it seems like a good emu. A new Wavetable emulator kindly sent to my by Burzek (cheers mate!). This looks like a decent enough player, and its such a small filesize that anyone can download and try it! It arrives, finally we see the release of "The Impact", this is basically an Arcade emulator with a focus of 3D beat'em ups. You need 128MB of RAM and a good 3D Card. I get 5fps with my K6-2/350, 128MB, Voodoo2... hefty
Its finally here, the year 2000 is apon us.. what miracles in emulation will we see this year (The Impact? - Bleem going to new heights? - UltraHLE getting updated? - MAME taking over the world?). This great C64 emulator gets another release, for the DOS version this fixes a problem with the printer support. Overall this is the best C64 emulator around. |
